The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4. The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it. Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is. The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4 An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners. Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)? Connections from the Previous Film Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her outfit. It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group. Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
