Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.
Success also indicates he has secured 21 victories at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
His defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.
However the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
Moutet rescued four early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.
Appropriately, he secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
