Driver Situation

One point in Max Verstappen's favour: his teammate Tsunoda is ahead of him by a single position. He is unlikely to challenge the team's lead driver.

Interview Updates

Sky speaking with Sky now: the analyst is with Mercedes.

The analyst is jumping ahead to the 2026 season, speaking with Adrian Newey about his promotion to the team lead role.

Grid Details

Just sixteen vehicles on the grid. It was another poor grid-setting session for Lewis Hamilton: following his result of 20th and last in Las Vegas, leading to an eighth-place finish in the grand prix, he did not manage to advance of Q1 again on Friday. The team have as a result adjusted to his setup and so he will start from the pit lane.

Aston Martin's Lance Stroll and the Alpine duo of Gasly and Colapinto are all doing likewise.

Driver Comments

"We take the experience for the next day," says Isack Hadjar, 11th on the grid. Expect plenty of learning.

Constructors' Championship

The focus isn't solely on the drivers' title: McLaren have run away with the constructors' gong but the team, with a forty-point advantage over Red Bull, will be hoping to secure the runner-up position this weekend. George Russell can assist in this goal from the front row, and Antonelli will begin immediately after Verstappen.

Previous Results

Oscar Piastri was victorious then – as he did last year, too. The driver from McLaren is attempting a third consecutive win.

Sprint Race Value

Alright, just over 20 minutes remaining till the sprint race begins. Unless something goes wrong, its main importance is as a preview of future events, instead of highly important in its itself, with just eight championship points awarded to the winner. Mind you, second place here was sufficient for Verstappen to claim the title two years ago.

Max Verstappen wins F1 world title following his teammate's accident of the short race.
