Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.

At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
